Body Corrosion

Has anybody experienced a problem with body corrosion on their pride and joy?

Mines been corroding along the back window where it meets the roof, it wasn't bad at first but the more i looked at it the more depressed I became that this blemmish was spoiling my machine.

Anyway to cut to the chase I informed an alfa romeo main agent and pointed out their 6 year corrosion garantee, (mine's a 97). They said that unless body check had been carried out after the 3-years then the garantee was invalid,(S**t).

Luckily the main agents had done the service at the 3 year point and I complained that the body check should have been carried out regardless, they agreed and the cancer is now to be sorted out free of charge by the main agents.

Persistance pays off in the end, just check you sevice schedules carefully!

Cheers

Thanks for the tip IanD

It's not the first place I would look for corrosion. Talking about corrosion, the bottom window gasket on my backdoors looks like they are hidding some rust/corrosion underneath. Would that be the metal inside the gasket or the door itself wich is attacked ?

Has anyone changed these windows gasket.
Is it very complicated to do ?
Did anyone see corrosion underneath them ?

Cheers

Hi Hammer

It is the metal inside !(aluminium i think)i have changed them on three doors.
It's easy to change, just pull up in the seal strip, you may have to use a screwdriver as a leaver to lift it up at first (remember to protect the paint!)on the front doors you have to loosen the mirror to gain access.
You just press down the new seal strip...That's it !
Price: about €25-30 each, as far as i remember.

There was no corrosion underneath mine.

Greetings
